October 09, 2001 :: "Short man orders tall drink of water"
At Starbucks the small-sized drink is called a “tall”. Short people always order this size. I don’t know why I find that so amusing.
"yes, uh, i'll have the TWELVE inch sub, please"
That you’re finally coming out of the closet?
Watch the short-people comments, Dave. Some of us are dangerously close to kneecap-height.
Awwww Natalie... I didn’t know you were a pixie! That explains the mischievous grin.
the marriage, the ring - the whole thing's a sham. i should have known better than to allude to anything on here!
I'm avg. height and usually get a venti. I figure you're already paying $3.50 for a coffee - may as well pay $4.00 and get twice as much.
Hells yeah! That’s all I’m saying Charles.
i always preferred the Second Cup where i could actually ask for a Large Coffee. I am always embarrassed asking for those fancy-schmancy Starbucks coffees by their cute names.
It's just a tactic us short people use to make tall people *think* they are superior. Laugh at us and mock us all you want. Someday, the world will be ours. And then the tall people will be ordering "short" coffees at Starbucks.
Is that why you renamed your URL asmallvictory.net Michele? ;^p
But we never have to hear those "how's the weather up there" comments. And as for blocking my view, my lack of height makes it much easier to kick you in the groin on your way out of the movie theater.
Kick michelle? Why go to the effort?
I thought a kick would serve the purpose well, but I like your idea better. And I know I am superior to you, Dave, because I have the ability to actualy MAKE MY OWN DAMN COFFEE as opposed to paying 5 bucks every time I want a cup.
I can too. But being a superior tall person I get paid well enough to have someone do it for me. ;^)
So umm....how's the weather up there? Do you play basketball? Does your head have it's own zip code? Sigh. I lost, didn't I?
Would you pick that up off the ground for me? That’s a good little gnome... I notice they don’t make lawn jockeys in tall sizes. Hmmmm....
Someone did not learn the art of winning gracefully. Perhaps if your head wasn't in the clouds you would have realized that I concdeded and there was no need to carry on your spiteful meanderings.
Michele, are you sure your tiny body can hold $5 worth of coffee?
Well, if nothing else, it lessens the chance of you losing your balance while kicking and landing on your ass in an undignified heap :)
Foolish mortal. We have no need to kick. Eclipsing the sun is much funner. How’s it feel to live in our shadow? Literally.
This is why I don't have a comments system on my site. And at 5'5" that just gives me a much better "ratio" if you get the idea. (make something funny up if you don't get the idea though).
Perhaps, Dave, if your head weren't so big you wouldn't appear so tall. It's all an illusion brought on by self-aggrandization (I think that's a word. If not, tough).
Right you two! Outside!
Damn Pixel, I was counting on you to back me up. You know, you could climb on my shoulders and we could take him on.....ah forget it. Let's just shake hands and buy each other a tall one dave.
Anytime bebe!
Well, I do know this nice little trick that involves two people holding legs and a nearby post of some kind. Lamp post would do....
He said. She said. There’s 26 Comments
that could be taken to mean so many things, couldn't it? am i closing in on the point here, Dave?

P.S. I am curious, gourmet coffee shops in Canada have always offered many types of coffee in their. As in Kenyan Dark or Viennese Mild Roast or Ethiopian Blend. Different beans, not just served in different fancy-foamy manners. But Starbucks offers "normal" and "dark" roasts only. Is that only here?

No tactics are necessary to make us feel superior. We pretty much know it every time we reach for those top shelf items or block someone’s view in a movie theater. [That’s my personal favorite]

Just go for the old "grab, pull down and twist" trick :)
and for the record, while I might be a short-arse, I only get the small (tall) starbucks coffee because my nearest and dearest took a bit of a freak fit the last time I bought the big (vente?) one, screaming "four quid (approximately $6 - thanks to the old transfer to the uk and just change the dollar sign for a pound sign thing) for a farking cold coffee?!?" in the middle of the station. Most embarrassing.

Yes, I believe you’ve lost. Unless any other of the little people wish to take on the race of giants. I had my tongue sharpened this morning.

Hey, you got 5 dollars I can borrow for a cup of overpriced coffee?

Of course, shaking hands and making up is by far the most mature approach.
Spoilsport! ;)
