That's actually sort of disturbing.

Not to mention the radical environmental effects.

I can see it now--lakeboat tours, scuba diving, Casino Island (shared, of course, with a Disney of Arabia), motorboat races every year. This is a sound idea. By michaelbrown :: September 21, 2001 05:43 PM EST

how come none of the mass media groups ever mentioned that all these "extreme" groups were trained and funded by US CIA in 1970s? Why is US all over suddent calling them the "terrorists" yet these are the same people where US has pumped them up to get them overthrow their old goverment or reigms?! By tian :: September 22, 2001 05:40 AM EST
I’ve seen dozens of mentions of it Tian. We had to train Osama at the time. Our main enemy back then was Russia and we trained Afghans to help them fight the Russians. This was LONG before the Taliban which took power in September 1996. There was no way we’d foresee Osama’s group, and many other radical Muslims, turning around on us. Many of the Afghans claim that we used them to do their dirty work [i.e., going head to head with Russia]. Now they hate us.

Well... That is ONE reason.
