August 10, 2001 :: "Flapjackrabbit"
Possibly the best photo of a rabbit with a pancake on its head I’ve ever seen. Hopefully, not the last.

I think it's about putting stuff on the heads of rabbits. BEcause there's over 6 pictures (way more than anyone else has) of rabbits with stuff on their heads. weird.
By chunkbot :: August 10, 2001 11:45 AM EST
actually, if you dig around, there are hundreds of pictures of the rabbit with stuff on his head. pancakes, cupcakes, cookies, a turtle, a frog, some incense, everything. so cute it's painful. i want more of this stuff on the web.

Dude, it's not a pancake. It's just a French rabbit.

Ah. Buckwheat beret huh?

I wonder how high the Flapjackrabbit will get on the Blogdex.

I find that image strangely arousing.

That site has had over 6,000 hits today. I guess everyone likes rabbits sporting pancakes as much as I do.

personally i prefer my rabbits with a little more maple syrup

in malaysia, they call them rabbit burgers.

Mmm. Pancakes.
By Tami Jo :: August 11, 2001 07:18 AM EST
They're all the same rabbit. And the bunny doesn't even belong to him/her/it. The rabbit lives in a family petting zoo in Hokkaido.
Babelfish could not tell me what's up with the stuff on the rabbit's head.
Why have I spent so much time finding this out? Why, dear god, why?

If you click through a few of the listed links, It becomes obvious that the "Page of Rabbit" is a bunny blog/journal. Each page has a date and is subtitled "The rabbit of this day was observed this way". I'm thinking this belongs in my little sidebar of blog links.
Cute bunny+yummy pastries - all good things!
By Natalie :: August 11, 2001 01:23 PM EST
I wouldn't assume those pastries are as yummy as they appear to be. This is Japan we're talking about. The pancake could be filled with weird black beans. (I know what I'm talking about. I've been ambushed by such pancake impostors.)
I'm wondering about the rabbit too.

I won't rest until I figure this out. (Damn you, Davezilla Linabury! Damn you!)
A possible clue: run Babelfish on this page and among all the garbled stuff is this cryptic but possibly very pertinent phrase: "Always the rabbit of hunger."
OK. I'll stop now.
By charles :: August 11, 2001 05:20 PM EST
I know I said I'd stop. But one last link: the page viewed with Google's translator. It's worth it, just for the electron microscope pictures.

I'm rather concerned about the title "Calais is eaten (2000.5.26)".
Have we perhaps stumbled upon Bunnyzilla?
By Natalie :: August 12, 2001 12:00 AM EST
thanks for the translation links! it looks like the guy lives on some sort of co-op and they use rabbits to control the clover so more grass will grow for the horses to graze on. this rabbit kept escaping his pen, so he took it for a pet. it has no name. "who needs a name when the eyes speak?"
