What is it?

Stair Cozy?My neighbors are, for lack of a better term, fucking insane. Their latest venture? Well I’m not quite sure what this is.

I have a few guesses.

  1. Stairwell Cozy
  2. The latest piece by Christo’s dwarf brother, Crusto
  3. Second place winner in the 1974 Ugly Scarf Competition
  4. The curtains for Staircase Puppet Theatre
  5. A hot mitt in case the action on the stairs gets too hot to handle

And your guess is?

It’s a new style of bib.

Only for the most stylish of babies, of course.

Damn you fenix020387, I was going to say it was a Ball pad.

Well, it certainly doesn’t belong on the bannister! It’s the latest in edible, crotchless, leg-warmer-bodysuit gear…for men.

It is one of those ultra trendy iPod carrier case that has been split open as a message to the owner: if you don’t share your music, next time, the iPod gets it…

ps. piracy is wrong, blah blah blah…

oh, the real answer: it is a neck scarf. You loop it around your neck and stick the end through the hole.

It is for people that are either too lazy or too stupid to figure out how to do a pretzel tie with their scarves.

I think I would rather see the “ugly thingy” on the stairs than the neighbors danties hanging there to dry.

Maybe it’s a winter tub warmer for their daughter

Maybe the stairs were cold, Dave.

Natalie also suggested to me that it was a sweater with a tie hole, as Tian commented above. If so, it was sized for a dwarf with a pencil neck. It’s 22″ (55cm) long. Not much coverage. :???:

When I saw the photograph, I thought immediately of all those “penis cozies” my first wife knitted for me. Of course, I never used them, they were always too small.

My first thought was ‘Which end?’ :wtf:

    two words : stair sock

My grandmother has one like that which is very short - it looks too short to fit her, though it isn’t. She keeps one because tying a regular scarf is very difficult for her to do with arthritis in her fingers. Makes sense to me.

So, apparantly the stairwell has arthritis and needs to keep it’s neck warm. It’s all very simple.

Obviously it’s a new fangled Cockscarf. Now available at Old Navy!

I think it may be an off-shoot religon based on the ill-fated Heavens gate group that believes keeping staircase bannisters warm will bring them into the after-life when the comet comes.

Don’t want to know what else they do with it!

  19. Dan Martin, 30, November 2004, 10:26 |

…or Toolbag cushion for sliding down the rail.

  20. Natalie, 30, November 2004, 10:44 |

A scarf with an identity crisis, obviously.

You know, there really is no excuse for ugly variegated yarn, either.

“…available at Old Navy!” I obviously need to give that store another look.

“Display Case” of sorts… for men. Really ugly aesthetics, though. Don’t know how it will go with the decor, boys!

  23. TinaMarie, 30, November 2004, 14:47 |

Oh for Christsakes! Haven’t you people ever seen a knitted loincloth with a fly?
